Umbrella Creek Bridge

Project Facts

Name: Umbrella Creek Bridge
Location: Eurobodalla
Client: Eurobodalla Shire Council
Commencement: December 2012
Duration: 4 Months

Project Description:

The bridge involved the replacement of the flood damaged road bridge at Umbrella Creek, Eurobodalla. The rural nature of this project posed serious problems due to the accessibility and communications issues. The project was necessary to replace the temporary measure of the armco pipe crossing with a reinforced concrete bridge to serve local farm traffic and school buses. Notable elements of the project included cast-in-situ reinforced concrete piles, major earthworks, cast in situ bridge abutments, wing walls and approach slabs (including hold-down bolts for the barriers), installation of pre-cast concrete bridge planks; reinforced concrete deck and kerb, traffic barriers and rock armoring / scour protection to either side of each abutment.
