Project Description:

Construction of a new 300m long floodway channel as part of the Penrith Lakes scheme flood management system including a new two-span 40m long road  and pedestrian bridge over the new floodway. Features of the project included 60,000m3 of bulk earthworks (cut to fill) and implementation of GPS survey control, detailed earthworks for landform construction, excavation and tie-in into existing lake, environmental management, driven steel piles, in-situ concrete bridge structure, re-use existing super-T girders recovered from previous structure, customised modificaiton works to fit girders to new bridge, construction of large scale bridge scour protection including stone pitching, rip rap and rock mattresses and construction of roadside furniture.
