Project Description

Talis Civil was engaged by Novorail Alliance to construct the new Blacktown Substation as part of the larger Power Supply Upgrade Program initiated by Transport NSW which has been designed to facilitate all future rail timetables and new generation of air conditioned trains. Works included but were not limited to the installation of service conduits, drainage, site water filtering, all structural concrete works, external pavements, internal building works and fitout. More detailed construction activities included bulk and detailed excavation / disposal, installation of high and low voltage electrical conduits and pits, all site drainage including stormwater filtering and oil / water separator tanks, construction of new site boundary walls and fencing, construction of the new substation building including basement slab, walls, suspended ceilings, transformer bays, plinths and bund walls, GIS and rectifier slabs, all external pavements, footpaths and stairs, all internal works such as bricklaying, rendering, plumbing, provision and commissioning of water and sewer services to the substation building.
